In the 15th and 16th centuries, Ladies of the Manor kept a household book with recipes, medicinal remedies, and instructions on how to make narrow braids and laces. The mid 15th c book of the Tollemache family was called the 'Book of Secrets'. Lady Bindloss', mid 17th c manuscript contained instructions for 35 braids and a sample of each. We are going to learn how to make these historic braids and cords using only our fingers and some thread. You will find this a truly fascinating technique.
